Richmond's Hot Streak

If you've been following along with this year's Sim Cup Season, you are witnessing history. It doesn't matter what race you've watched, the streak points leader Kevin Richmond is on is one for the history books. In 6 races this year, Dumas Racing's veteran driver has scored 6 top 5s. It seems like no matter where he starts, he ends up running with the leaders near the end. He's constantly outracing his opponents on the track, and in the pits. Last week, a quick pitstop led him to win at Talladega. This high level of consistency has lead to the largest margin a points leader has lead on the field in Sim Cup, now sitting 130 points up on Davis McAffee.

He broke the record of 2 straight top 5s set last year by a few guys. So he's broken the record 3 times over! The closest anyone's come to this was Anthony Wick scoring 4 top 5s in 5 races(one was the All-Star Race, albiet). But the fact this streak has come from no where is what's most surprising. He had 2 top 5s all year last year, leading to a 17th place finish in points. Owner Patrick Dumas decided to keep Richmond, and cut race winner Scott Unger. The move still baffles Sim Cup owners, but Dumas must've seen something in his guy. A number change, and a new sponsor in the off season, and Richmond seems like a completely new driver.

The Series heads out west for the first road course race this season. Richmond will need to qualify well in order to even have a shot at his 7th straight top 5. You never know! Richmond finished 5th last season in Wine Country. This streak may never end.

Burmy Bros. Racing

A lot has happened recently. The recording program just wasn't working out, so we're doing the next best thing, going back to screenshots of the race like last year. This decision caused some other decisions to be made.

The game will let as many cars race as the track has pit stalls. Every track has room for 43, except SOnoma which caps out at 24. This is the reason we ran 10 cars last season. So the 20 cars, plus one for the user player(i retire before the race starts). What I'm saying is theres room to expand! Last week, Michael Burmiester was rewarded a team. The Wisconsinite introduced his 2 rookie drivers, Reed Conway in the 38 Case IH ford, and Daniel Alderson in the 50 New Holland ford.

They will be behind everyone in research in development due to the short notice, but they are optimistic on their chances for the season which starts in a few weeks at Homestead.

Here are the drivers profiles.

Updates!

All the cars for the 2014 Sim Cup Season are done and ready to race! They will be posted in our team by team season preview. During that time, a new add on to this blog will sync posts to the @Mock_Sports twitter. That will let me seamlessly update everyone on the league. It'll update every half hour, so I hope this works!

I also did some house keeping on the sidebar and tabs up above, so be sure to check those out.

But the recording system is still needing to be played with. It's the last step from us starting up the engines at Homestead. Sometime in May will be the starting date.

Carson Fitzpatrick

Carson Fitzpatrick replaced Danny Harkins in the Chretien Racing #20 ride, and his new primary sponsor was announced recently. The Canadian coffee brand Tim Horton's will be on the hood of the new car. The paint scheme was unveiled during a testing session with his teammate Drew Tabulov at Gateway, which was the first action the track got in anticipation of the Gateway Classic this season.

Dumas Racing

Dumas Racing debut their new paint schemes. Richmond moves over to the 71 car with Time Warner Cable on the hood. Then the rookie Patrick Cobb, Jr. will be behind the wheel of the 71 Pabst Blue Ribbon ford. The 71 is Scott Unger's old team, now helping out the new driver.

Scott Unger's New Ride

Team Harden had a testing session at Lowe's Motor Speedway today. Scott Unger took his first laps in the 4 car driving for Brent Harden. Unger, who won at Indianapolis last season, was cut by Dumas Racing. He filled the spot opened by Jamie Simm's empty seat after being axed. The Chick-Fil-A Ford Fusion ran faster laps than teammate Tommy Morello.

Huge News!

This racing league has inspired me. I've always wanted to do record these races and post the videos online. I had the idea to expand on that. Why stop at racing? That has led to me establishing...

Starting this January, I will have a youtube channel for the Mock Sports Network. Currently, this racing league and the newly formed North American Sim Hockey are the flagship leagues. The channel could expand at any time and I have some really good people working on it with me. I'm going to make a twitter, facebook page, everything to let others in on this great thing of ours.

So moving forward, this blog will be home of the league. With the race posts being the youtube clips, and the standings/qualifying results being the same. Since the Logocast is pretty much done for, with the announcement of the new channel, we have rebranded! I'm sure you noticed, but here is our new logo.

So stay in touch, we'll be having off season things coming up soon. New paint schemes, drivers, and other silly season things. Enjoy!

2013 Final Standings

I'm gonna make this announcement, the champion of this season will be Matt Zetticci. The reason I'm making this call is that the game had him as the champion. If Barros was named champion, then that would open a rabbit hole of bonus point controversy. I don't want to eliminate all bonus points because it helps drivers out.

So that's it! Congrats to Matt Zetticci and the entire Revolution Motorsports team for being the innagural champions of the Logocast Cup Series.

2013 Season Standings Review

With the events unfolding last night, a few questions arose on the points. The game had Barros ending up 4 points short of a title with the champion being Zetticci. Barros had all 10 bonus points on the screen that pops up after the race is over, with a 1 point victory margin over the 6.

We know that Barros FOR SURE led over 100 laps. He lost the lead between lap 106 and 130. Wick had a good pit stop and led the second half of the race after Bowen crashed. The race as 267 laps, meaning with both of those drivers lead 100 laps, Flint automatically wouldn't have gotten the bonus for the most laps. He did lead a bit, but not much.

But should the outcome from the game be changed? In the game, it has Zetticci as champ. If we go in and change the champion, then it might open a pandora's box of point changes.

I personally think Barros should be crowned champion. Brent watched the sim with me, and saw that Barros had earned 140 points before I actually exited. Flint would be subtracted 5 points, allowing Bracket to pass him in the points also.

I'm gonna see everyone's opinions on this and figure out the mode of action.

The final point standings are under investigation.

Driver News!

According to my sources, Dumas Racing and Chertein Racing will both be making changes for the 2014 Logocast Cup season.

Patrick Dumas made the announcement that Indianapolis winner Scott Unger will not be driving for his team next year, and will be replaced by Patrick Cobb, Jr. Unger is 8th in points, which is a lot better than the underperforming Kevin Richmond in 18th. Team Harden Racing has expressed interest in Unger to drive the 4 car next year.

Randy Chertein made the call to ax Danny Harkins from the team in 2014. Harkins is last in Cup standings, and other than the first race of the season, he hasn't recorded a top 5 all yeear. Chertein named rookie driver Carson Fitzpatrick as his replacement. No word on whether Fox Racing will remain on the hood for 2014.

Taylor Motorsports and Revolution Motorsports both will keep their stable the same for next year. Taylor Motorsports is running 4th in team standings, and has the most wins of any team. Revolution Motorsports is leading the points, and could have a series championship by this time next week.

The list of Free Agent drivers now is the following

Will Strauss
Jamie Simms
Ryan Barber
Danny Harkins
Scott Unger

2014 Provisional Schedule Released

Next year's schedule has been determined, with possible changes to come. Our same basic line up is there, with a 6 new races added to the series. The biggest change is a 20 race schedule. More races means more chances to win. The only thing is I would need more people involved, meaning just comment on races or something. I'm still gonna look for a way to film it for youtube, which would make everyone's lives easier because reading sucks.

Some changes to the schedule include 2 more restrictor plate races. Daytona marks the half way point. Talladega is the only track with 2 races, because they're the most fun. Martinsville comes into the series, and will be the 4th track. The stretch from 2nd to 6th has a lot of history behind it. Pocono, Gateway, and Texas also get a race. Charlotte moves to the 17th race of the season, setting up for a 600 mile night race down the stretch of the season.
  1. Homestead
  2. Rockingham
  3. Darlington
  4. Martinsville
  5. Atlanta
  6. Talladega
  7. Sonoma
  8. Pocono
  9. Gateway - night
  10. Texas
  11. Daytona - night
  12. Michigan
  13. Richmond - night
  14. Bristol - night
  15. Indianapolis
  16. Watkins Glen
  17. Charlotte - night
  18. Talladega
  19. Phoenix
  20. Las Vegas

Simms Gone For Next Season?

My sources are saying that team owner Brent Harden is unhappy with the performances of his #2 driver Jamie Simms. Simms, coming off 3 accidents in the Watkins Glen Race, is running 19th in the standings. He is one of the best qualifyers in the field, but that doesn't earn you points. No announcement has been made for who will replace him.
