Qualifying Results for the Gateway Classic

Taylor Motorsports Liveries

Taylor Motorsports will look slightly different this next race at Gateway. Dillon Fischer will be running in an Old Spice Swagger look, which is to be ran at all night races. Anthony Wick will be in a special black and white look. Hopefully the new schemes will turn around the team's fortunes this season.

All-Star Race Host Voting NOW OPEN

So I was talking to all the owners, and we couldn't decide on the host of the All-Star Race at the end of the season. I gave them the option of 4 tracks that don't host any Sim Cup races. Those are

Milwaukee Mile - Flat track with decent racing
Auto Club Speedway - Big market with poor racing
Dover International - banked oval with good racing
Iowa Speedway - short track similar to Richmond

and then I threw in Datona because the track hosted the last All-Star race. So I thought that it could become the perminent host because of the action. I decided I would create a logo for each to entice everyone to choose certain logos. So here they are!

Qualifying Results for the Golden State 350

Richmond's Hot Streak

If you've been following along with this year's Sim Cup Season, you are witnessing history. It doesn't matter what race you've watched, the streak points leader Kevin Richmond is on is one for the history books. In 6 races this year, Dumas Racing's veteran driver has scored 6 top 5s. It seems like no matter where he starts, he ends up running with the leaders near the end. He's constantly outracing his opponents on the track, and in the pits. Last week, a quick pitstop led him to win at Talladega. This high level of consistency has lead to the largest margin a points leader has lead on the field in Sim Cup, now sitting 130 points up on Davis McAffee.

He broke the record of 2 straight top 5s set last year by a few guys. So he's broken the record 3 times over! The closest anyone's come to this was Anthony Wick scoring 4 top 5s in 5 races(one was the All-Star Race, albiet). But the fact this streak has come from no where is what's most surprising. He had 2 top 5s all year last year, leading to a 17th place finish in points. Owner Patrick Dumas decided to keep Richmond, and cut race winner Scott Unger. The move still baffles Sim Cup owners, but Dumas must've seen something in his guy. A number change, and a new sponsor in the off season, and Richmond seems like a completely new driver.

The Series heads out west for the first road course race this season. Richmond will need to qualify well in order to even have a shot at his 7th straight top 5. You never know! Richmond finished 5th last season in Wine Country. This streak may never end.
