Gibson 500 Under the Lights

The series went to the bull ring in Bristol for this week's race. A wild race spin wise, and the record for most cautions in one race!

Bowen leads the boys to the line and the race begins!
Lap 71: The leading 4 start to pull away, with Fischer jumping to 2nd on the first lap
Lap 115: The top 4 opened up a huge lead until the pit stops started. Bowen gave up the lead to fill up on the green flag cycle
Lap 118: Still during the pit stop cycle, Tabulov got caught up in Flint's spin a lap after he rejoined the track ruining his day. Flint's day got much worse. No caution.
Lap 215: Powers was the leader after the pits, he was working his way through traffic while being chased by Bowen as you can see in the right side of the picture
Lap 230: Dorian got under Baros to force the issue spinning both up the track. This caused the first caution of the day as the cars stopped on the apron
Lap 286: Fischer worked his way through traffic during the pit cycle to take the lead from Walkowiak
Lap 320: Zetticci passes Fischer, and a few laps later, Fischer spins and hits the wall. He came down infront of Walkowiak blocking the field but no caution. Zetticci and the cars almost lapped managed to make up tons of time on the majority of the field. McAffee picked up damage after being hit by Unger while stopped.
Lap 359: Flint spins out right infront of the leader in turn 4, comes down and hits Powers knocking him out of contention. The pace car came out bunching the field up
Lap 418: The first DNF of the race, Wick blows an engine which made Taylor Motorsport's day even worse.
Lap 425: Zetticci, with the help of traffic, passes Walkowiak puttin 19 cars a lap down and making the race all but his.
Lap 492: The race was quiet until Flint turned Fischer for his 3rd crash of the day. This brought out the final caution of the day
And under caution, Zetticci picks up his first win of his career.
The race was pretty bad, Zetticci led the last 200 and the non cautions ruined a few drivers days. But Barros ended up with a top 3 SOMEHOW. He has the best luck in the field and it shows with his points lead.

The series heads to Indy next weekend, will the points shift any more?

Qualifying results for the Gibson 500

A great run for the last place team in points! Irish Lads Racing has Bowen on the pole for the second time in a row, and his battering mate Walkowiak is starting on the 2nd row. From 1st to 19th, the laps were only .05 apart. Only Bracket had a bad run and him and his points leading teammate Barros will have to work through traffic to have a good finish.

Standings After Race 8

Quite the mix up! The guys who led a lot of the early season are all over the standings now. Some new competitors are rising to the top. Can Tabulov or Zetticci be the ones to knock off Barros? We'll see soon!

Levi's 400 at Richmond

What a wild race this was! It saw a lot of spins, failures, and a surprise winner!

Bowen and McAffee lead the field to the green!
Lap 50: Bowen, Richmond, and Zetticci lead the race grouped together far infront of the rest
Lap 56: Morello continues to have trouble, an electrical problem means he is the first to retire
Lap 96: Just as Richmond takes the lead, he goes into the pits as the green flag stops cycle through.
Lap 99: Irons, who was running 5th drops a clutch ending his day
Lap 136: Dorian spins in the turn causing damage
And on that same lap, Adkins backs it into the wall and brings out a caution.
Lap 180: After 40 green laps, early leader Bowen has gearbox problems and retires.

Lap 241: Wick and Flint were out front, they had a good restart and benefitted from trouble all around them

Lap 288: Team Harden continues to have trouble, with a Simms having a gearbox problem for himself
Lap 321: I just managed to catch this, but Bracket hit the wall hard on the front stretch
Lap 341: Davis and Barros got together and both hit the wall. This brought out a big caution when Flint was running away with this race. Only 4 cars remained on the lead lap.
Lap 359: Harkins ends his day with a fire. The last place driver in points cannot make any ground.
Lap 360: Walkowiak had a big power move under Flint to take over first!
And he holds on to the win! Walkowiak puts two good finishes together and is starting to turn his season arund! Flint caught up late, but still finished a second and a half behind.
And here are the final results! Tabulov, and Flint had good days, but couldn't make too much ground on Barros who was helped out the caution he brought out.
The next race will be at Bristol, a race that will have a lot of action and still could mix up the points!

Qualifying Results for the Levi's 400 at Richmond

Here they are! Davis in the 53 will have a huge advantage off the bat on Barros. Bowen gets a big pole for his team who is starting to turn it around and compete. Zetticci has a chance to go out and win early if he stays out of trouble, which would be a big deal in points.
